Sing software or voice singing software has historically been very expensive and outside of the reach of most vocalists. Within the last few years sing software has become available at a price point affordable by anyone who owns a computer, typically costing less than one hundred dollars. The benefits of singing software are that it can help a vocalist discover and resolve vocal pitch problems and improve overall tone quality. Other types of sing software help with harmony and include vocal exercises or drills to develop overall robustness of ones voice.
Voice singing software has come a long way with features that previously cost thousands of dollars available for the average consumer. Perhaps the biggest feature improvement is visual bio feedback for pitch while singing. For yet to be determined reasons, research appears to support the notion that visual feedback combined with audio feedback creates strong neural pathways to enable singers to sing on pitch. It may be many years before this hypothesis can be validated, yet the good news is that the empirical evidence shows that the software works and that singers are learning to sing on pitch at levels not previously attainable. For the price of a single singing lesson, the average singer can now train themselves to sing on pitch, build confidence, and avoid the embarrassment of singing off pitch.
